Event : 25 November 2024

Yassine Chamakh, a student at Ibn Tofail University, recently won the first prize for volunteer work thanks to his smart application “Seisme Data.” Developed during the last earthquake that struck Morocco’s Al Haouz province, located approximately 72 kilometers southwest of Marrakesh. This innovative application was designed to assist victims of natural disasters, particularly earthquakes.

“Seisme Data” (where “Seisme” refers to “Earthquake” in English) plays a crucial role in emergency management by allowing users to report an incident in the event of a disaster. This feature provides authorities and rescue teams with valuable real-time information, facilitating the organization of interventions and the rapid deployment of necessary aid.

Recognizing his remarkable achievement, the President of Ibn Tofail University warmly welcomed Yassine Chamakh, highlighting the significance of his contribution to disaster response and technological innovation in Morocco.

Through his dedication and ingenuity, Yassine Chamakh has developed a practical and effective tool to strengthen community resilience in the face of natural disasters.
