Start with an Idea, Leave with a Plan: The Entrepreneurial Journey at UIT

Event:  May 14 –15, 2025

Partner: Empowerment Center, Ibn Tofail University EsMaroc Hub

In today’s dynamic global landscape, employability is no longer defined solely by academic degrees. The ability to think critically, act creatively, and initiate meaningful change is becoming just as essential as subject mastery. Recognizing this, Ibn Tofail University continues to expand its educational mission, not only to transmit knowledge but to transform mindsets, equipping students to become creators of Opportunity in a complex world.

It is within this vision that the university’s Empowerment Center recently organized a two-day training titled “From Idea to Structured Project,” held on May 14 and 15 in partnership with the EsMaroc Hub. This initiative was developed as part of the DAPP Project and conducted in collaboration with ActionAid and Swisscontact. The training aimed to support young innovators in transforming their raw ideas into structured, actionable projects with real-world relevance.

The Empowerment Center, as a core unit of UIT, plays a foundational role in advancing equity, employability, entrepreneurship, and student success. It continues to provide students with inclusive and innovative spaces to explore solutions, strengthen their skills, and connect academic learning with professional realities.

The training brought together a group of motivated students, each carrying a vision, a question, or a challenge they wished to address. What they shared was the desire to build something meaningful,  a solution that could outlive the classroom. The program offered an intensive series of workshops blending practical learning with human development.

From a cross-introduction icebreaker to in-depth modules on entrepreneurship fundamentals, idea structuring, business models, and legal and financial frameworks, students were guided step-by-step in crafting and refining their projects. Interactive activities, real-time feedback, storytelling, and pitch simulations allowed them to grow not only in skill but also in self-awareness and confidence.

The heart of the training was not only to teach entrepreneurship but to awaken the entrepreneurial spirit, the courage to begin, the resilience to continue, and the clarity to lead. Through collaborative work and individualized mentoring, students were encouraged to view challenges as seeds for innovation and to turn uncertainty into structured, purpose-driven action.

By the end of the program, each participant received an official certificate recognizing their engagement and effort. A final pitch session allowed students to present their refined project ideas to a panel. The most promising proposals were selected to receive seed funding of up to 30,000 MAD, empowering them to take the first step toward implementation.

This success reflects the strong collaboration between the Empowerment Center of UIT and the EsMaroc Hub, which together provided a learning environment that was both structured and inspiring. Their partnership combined strategic vision, field expertise, and personalized coaching, allowing students not only to acquire knowledge but to activate it. More than just a training, this was a space for students to build, believe, and begin.

This initiative reflects the core values of Ibn Tofail University: to educate not only in the classroom but in life. By integrating programs that encourage innovation, leadership, and civic engagement, the university affirms its role as a catalyst for positive change. In a time when the path to employment is no longer linear, preparing students to navigate and shape their futures has never been more urgent.

Through programs like “From Idea to Structured Project,” Ibn Tofail University embraces its responsibility to develop not only competent graduates but capable changemakers, young people equipped, supported, and inspired to make an impact in their communities and beyond.
