People Who Care Make Change: 1.5 Tonnes Collected in a Student-Led Clean-Up

Date: 19 October, 2025

On October 19, 2025, a well-organized environmental field operation took place at Mehdia Beach, led by the GreenInvest Club of ENSA Kenitra. The initiative went beyond a symbolic activity and was structured as a results-driven intervention centered on waste removal, site restoration, and active student participation in environmental stewardship. Volunteers were deployed across mapped sections of the coastline, working in coordinated groups with clear roles and collection methods. This structured approach ensured efficiency, safety, and measurable outcomes while transforming student engagement into concrete ecological service.

Throughout the operation, teams systematically collected scattered litter, sorted recyclable materials, and cleared the most polluted zones of the shore. Plastic waste, mixed debris, and abandoned items were removed through a step-by-step process that combined field discipline with teamwork. The campaign led to the extraction of more than 1.5 tonnes of waste, producing an immediate and visible improvement in the area. The shoreline became cleaner and more secure, pollution risks to marine life were reduced, and the quality of the public space was significantly enhanced. The intervention delivered direct environmental relief while restoring the visual and ecological value of the site.

Beyond the physical results, the initiative generated strong educational and social impact. Participants gained hands-on experience in environmental action, collaborative work, and responsible field practices. They learned how planning, coordination, and shared accountability lead to tangible outcomes. Support from partners strengthened logistics and volunteer morale, showing how cooperation between student groups and community actors increases effectiveness. Such experiences build long-term environmental awareness and encourage continued participation in future sustainability actions.
