Université Ibn Tofail has announced the organization of a Selection Race aimed at identifying the university’s most promising student-athletes. This initiative forms part of the institution’s broader commitment to promoting university sports and fostering a culture of athletic excellence and competitive performance within the academic community.
The event will serve as the official qualifying competition for the formation of the university delegation that will represent UIT at the forthcoming National University Athletics Championship, scheduled to take place in Oujda City on January 22–23, 2026. Through this selection process, the university seeks to identify high-performing athletes capable of competing at the national level and achieving distinguished results.
The selection race will be held at the University Sports Complex on Thursday, January 8, 2026, beginning promptly at 4:00 p.m. Participation is open to all registered students, both male and female, who are under the age of 25. The competition will include a 10,000-meter race for male participants and a 5,000-meter race for female participants.
To ensure the integrity and standardization of the qualifying process, participants are required to present a valid student identification card upon registration. Competitors must also arrive equipped with appropriate athletic clothing and running shoes in order to guarantee optimal conditions of safety, comfort, and performance during the event.
Beyond its sporting dimension, this initiative reflects the university’s engagement with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, the event contributes to SDG 3 by encouraging physical activity and healthy lifestyles among university students. It also supports SDG 4 through the promotion of holistic student development, where sports function as a means of cultivating discipline, leadership, and teamwork. Furthermore, the event aligns with SDG 5 by ensuring equitable participation opportunities for both female and male student-athletes.
Through this initiative, Université Ibn Tofail reaffirms its dedication to academic and athletic excellence while encouraging students to actively engage in extracurricular activities that contribute to personal growth, institutional representation, and national sporting achievement.
