Ibn Tofail university officially announced the opening of registrations for the 2026 edition of the international Francophone competition Ma Thèse en 180 secondes 2026 (MT180). The competition provides doctoral candidates with a unique opportunity to present their research topics in just 180 seconds in a clear, concise, and accessible manner to a non-specialist audience.
The registration period will run from January 12 to February 15, 2026. Through this initiative, the university seeks to encourage doctoral students to strengthen their scientific communication skills while promoting the dissemination and valorization of academic research within society.
Recognized across the Francophone academic world, the MT180 competition highlights the importance of making scientific knowledge understandable and impactful beyond academic circles. Participants are challenged to synthesize complex research projects into engaging presentations that combine clarity, pedagogy, and public speaking excellence.
By participating in this international competition, doctoral students gain valuable experience in communication, critical thinking, and research dissemination, while also contributing to the visibility and international outreach of their institution and scientific work.
This initiative aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 through the promotion of doctoral training and academic excellence. It also contributes to SDG 9 by encouraging the dissemination of innovative research and scientific creativity, as well as SDG 17 through the strengthening of international Francophone academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.
