On May 13, 2026, The Faculty of Sciences at Ibn Tofail University hosted the first edition of the International Symposium on Materials, Catalysis, Energy and Environment (ISMCEE 2026), bringing together distinguished researchers, academics, and experts to discuss some of the most pressing challenges facing our world today: energy transition, sustainable development, and environmental protection.
Held under the theme “Innovating Today for the Environment of Tomorrow!”, the symposium provided an international platform for scientific dialogue and interdisciplinary collaboration. Participants from various institutions and research fields gathered to exchange knowledge, present innovative research findings, and explore emerging solutions in the areas of advanced materials, catalysis, renewable energy, and environmental sustainability.
The event highlighted the crucial role of scientific research and technological innovation in addressing global environmental challenges. Through keynote lectures, scientific presentations, and discussions, participants examined new approaches to developing sustainable energy systems, improving resource efficiency, reducing environmental impacts, and accelerating the transition toward a greener future.
By fostering collaboration between researchers, students, and industry stakeholders, the symposium reinforced the importance of international partnerships in advancing scientific discovery and sustainable innovation. It also offered young researchers and doctoral students a valuable opportunity to engage with leading experts and contribute to discussions on the future of energy and environmental sciences.
The organization of this first edition reflects Ibn Tofail University’s commitment to promoting excellence in research and supporting initiatives that contribute to sustainable development. The symposium aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Affordable and Clean Energy, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Climate Action, and Partnerships for the Goals.
As a hub for scientific exchange and innovation, the International Symposium on Materials, Catalysis, Energy and Environment marks an important step in strengthening international research cooperation and encouraging the development of solutions that will help build a more sustainable and resilient future for all.
