Ibn Tofail University Hosts Communication Day on Social Inclusion and Family Protection in Partnership with the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family

Event : 20th July, 2026

On Monday, July 20, 2026, Ibn Tofail University hosted a distinguished Communication Day at its University Theater in Kenitra under the theme “An Effective Partnership for Strengthening Social Inclusion and Family Protection.” The event was organized by the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family in partnership with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as part of the implementation of the cooperation agreement signed between the two institutions.

Bringing together leading academics, policymakers, researchers, and professionals in the social sector, the event provided a valuable platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange on advancing social inclusion, strengthening family protection, and enhancing the quality of social services in Morocco. It also reaffirmed the shared commitment of both institutions to fostering evidence-based policies, developing specialized academic programs, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration to address emerging social challenges.

The programme featured three major highlights that reflect the strategic vision of this partnership.

The first was the launch of a new glossary of terminology dedicated to issues related to domestic violence, vulnerability, and disability. Designed as a scientific and professional reference, the glossary aims to harmonize concepts and terminology used by researchers, practitioners, and public institutions, thereby promoting consistency in social interventions, supporting academic research, and strengthening public policies in the fields of social inclusion and family protection.

The second highlight was the presentation of new academic pathways in social work, developed to prepare highly qualified social workers in accordance with Law No. 45-18 regulating social work professions. These programmes combine academic excellence with practical field training, equipping future professionals with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundations required to respond effectively to the evolving needs of individuals, families, public institutions, local authorities, and civil society organizations.

Participants also visited the Center for Pedagogical and Digital Innovation, where they explored innovative educational technologies and digital solutions developed by Ibn Tofail University to support teaching, learning, and professional training. The visit showcased how digital innovation and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, can contribute to improving social services, enhancing professional practices, and fostering innovative solutions to societal challenges.

This Communication Day reflects the strength of the strategic partnership between Ibn Tofail University and the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family. It also highlights the University’s commitment to serving society through academic excellence, research, innovation, and collaboration with public institutions to support Morocco’s national development priorities and contribute to sustainable social transformation.

The initiative also demonstrates Ibn Tofail University’s strong commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. By promoting high-quality education and specialized professional training, the event contributes to SDG 4. Its focus on combating domestic violence and protecting vulnerable groups advances SDG 5 and SDG 10. Through strengthening institutional frameworks and improving social protection mechanisms, it supports SDG 16. Most importantly, the event embodies SDG 17 by showcasing how collaboration between higher education institutions and government can generate innovative, inclusive, and sustainable solutions to complex social challenges.
