Ibn Tofail University (UIT) in Kenitra is proud to celebrate a distinguished international cinematic achievement by one of its students. At the International Digital Cinema Festival, Alaa Eddine Kharraz, a student at Ibn Tofail University, was awarded the Grand Prix in the Documentary Film Competition – Amateur Category for his film entitled Halouma. This outstanding achievement was further celebrated by the Clacket Cinema Club, affiliated with the Faculty of Human Sciences and Social Sciences in Kenitra, which also received the Excellence Award.
The documentary Halouma distinguished itself through its poetic visual language and compelling cinematic expression, portraying themes of resilience, struggle, and human determination. The film’s success reflects the creativity and artistic potential of young Moroccan university students and their ability to produce meaningful cinematic works capable of reaching international audiences.
This achievement also highlights the important role played by university-based cultural and artistic clubs in nurturing students’ creativity, encouraging artistic expression, and providing opportunities for young talents to participate in national and international cultural events. Through the Clacket Cinema Club, Ibn Tofail University continues to foster an environment in which students can explore cinema as a form of artistic expression, cultural dialogue, and social engagement.
The achievement of the Clacket Cinema Club contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By providing students with opportunities to develop their creative, artistic, communication, and collaborative skills, the initiative supports Quality Education. Its promotion of artistic expression, cultural participation, and diverse voices also contributes to Reduced Inequalities and Sustainable Cities and Communities. The international recognition received by student Alaa Eddine Kharraz for Halouma, together with the Excellence Award received by the Clacket Cinema Club, represents a source of pride for Ibn Tofail University and the Faculty of Human Sciences and Social Sciences.
