More than 20 doctoral researchers from Ibn Tofail University (UIT) participated in the 5th Knowledge Youth Forum, held on 7–8 September 2026 at the headquarters of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in Rabat, under the theme “Beyond the Crisis, Towards Sustainability.”
Organised by ICESCO, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the forum brought together young people, researchers and experts from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds to exchange perspectives on sustainability, innovation, future skills and youth engagement.
The event welcomed more than 5,500 young people in person and generated over 9 million social media views. It also featured digital twin technology connecting five locations, demonstrating how digital innovation can support international outreach and knowledge exchange.
For UIT doctoral researchers, participation provided an opportunity for academic outreach, networking and knowledge sharing, while engaging with a diverse and inclusive community. The presence of participants of different genders, cultural backgrounds and abilities highlighted the importance of inclusion, equality, accessibility and diversity in creating spaces where different perspectives can contribute to sustainable development.
Participation in international initiatives of this kind also contributes to strengthening partnerships and collaboration beyond the university community, connecting UIT researchers with wider networks of institutions, experts and young people working towards common development goals.
Through this engagement, Ibn Tofail University continues to promote knowledge exchange, youth participation, inclusion and international collaboration, while supporting broader efforts towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
