Ibn Tofail University hosted an international scientific conference entitled “Violence in the Digital Age and Artificial Intelligence: What Psychological, Social, Legal and Economic Effects? Towards an Interdisciplinary Perspective” from 24 to 26 April 2026 at the University Theatre in Kenitra. The event was organized by the Laboratory of Human, Society and Values at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, in partnership with the Master’s programme in Clinical Health Psychology and the Laboratory of Education and Research in Assistive Technology (LEPTA) in Brazil.
The conference addressed one of the increasingly important challenges associated with the rapid development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence: the emergence and transformation of different forms of violence in digital environments. By bringing together perspectives from psychology, sociology, law, economics, and other fields, the event provided an interdisciplinary framework for examining the complex effects of digital violence and the opportunities and challenges associated with artificial intelligence.
The conference highlighted the importance of understanding how technological transformations are reshaping individual and social behaviours, while also examining the potential risks associated with the misuse of digital technologies. Particular attention to the psychological, social, legal, and economic dimensions of the issue helped promote a more comprehensive understanding of violence in contemporary digital societies.
The international dimension of the event was further strengthened through its partnership with LEPTA in Brazil, demonstrating the importance of international academic cooperation in addressing emerging global challenges. The conference was conducted in Arabic, French, English, and Portuguese, creating opportunities for researchers and academics from different linguistic and disciplinary backgrounds to exchange knowledge and perspectives.
