Ibn Tofail University Participates in the “Women as Effective Leaders” Project in Kenitra

On 11 July 2026, Ibn Tofail University participated in the launch of the “Women as Effective Leaders” (نساء قياديات فاعلات) project, organized in partnership with the Ministry of the Interior – Kenitra Province, with the support of the Support Fund for Promoting Women’s Representation. The event was held at the Agricultural Chamber in Kenitra.

The initiative aims to promote women’s participation and representation in public life and to contribute to strengthening women’s role in local affairs. It provides a platform for discussion and exchange on the opportunities and challenges associated with women’s participation in local decision-making and leadership.

Ibn Tofail University contributed to the opening seminar through the participation of Professor Mohamed Aajoun, Dean of the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences in Kenitra, who delivered a presentation entitled “Women’s Political Empowerment and the Challenges of Strengthening Participation in Local Affairs Management: The Constitutional and Institutional Approach.”

The presentation addressed the role of the constitutional and institutional framework in supporting women’s political empowerment and strengthening their participation in the management of local affairs. It also highlighted the importance of creating an enabling institutional environment that supports women’s effective participation in decision-making processes.

The University’s participation in this initiative reflects its commitment to contributing academic expertise to issues related to gender equality, political participation, local governance, and inclusive development. It also illustrates the role of higher education institutions in supporting dialogue and cooperation around social and institutional priorities.

The “Women as Effective Leaders” project directly contributes to Gender Equality, particularly through its focus on promoting women’s participation, representation, and empowerment in public and political life. It also supports Reduced Inequalities by encouraging more inclusive participation in decision-making processes.

The initiative is also aligned with Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, as strengthening inclusive participation and institutional mechanisms can contribute to more representative and accountable local governance. Furthermore, the partnership between Ibn Tofail University and the Kenitra Province reflects Partnerships for the Goals, highlighting the importance of cooperation between academic and public institutions in advancing shared development objectives.

Through its participation in the project, Ibn Tofail University reaffirms its commitment to knowledge-based public engagement, women’s empowerment, inclusive governance, and partnerships that contribute to sustainable development.
