Ibn Tofail University Welcomes the First Cohort of Students to the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry

The 2026–2027 academic year marks a special and significant milestone for Ibn Tofail University, as the university welcomes the first cohort of students enrolled in its newly established Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry. This new academic chapter represents an important development in the university’s educational offering and strengthens its contribution to higher education and professional training in the health sciences.This new academic chapter reinforces Ibn Tofail University’s role as a leading academic and scientific hub in the Rabat–Salé–Kénitra region, while contributing to the diversification of higher education opportunities and the development of specialized training in the healthcare professions.

Prior to the start of classes, Mr Abdelhamid El Mazid Governor of Kenitra Province, accompanied by his delegation and Professor Mohamed Ebn Touhami, President of Ibn Tofail University, conducted an inspection visit to the Faculty. The visit provided an opportunity to tour the institution’s facilities and equipment and to assess its readiness to welcome students and ensure that the new academic year begins under optimal conditions.

The launch of the Faculty represents a significant step in the continued development of university education and professional training at Ibn Tofail University, particularly in the field of health sciences. By providing specialized academic preparation, the Faculty aims to contribute to the development of qualified scientific and medical professionals capable of responding to the evolving needs of the national healthcare system and contributing to community well-being and territorial development.

The establishment of the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, it directly supports Good Health and Well-being by contributing to the education and preparation of future healthcare professionals who can help address the needs of the national health system. It also advances Quality Education by expanding access to specialized higher education and providing students with academic and professional training in the health sciences. Furthermore, by strengthening the availability of qualified health professionals and expanding educational opportunities within the region, the initiative contributes to Reduced Inequalities, particularly by supporting more equitable access to education and healthcare-related capacity building.

The launch of this new training offer reflects Ibn Tofail University’s commitment to strengthening its contribution to society through quality education, scientific development, and socially relevant professional training. It further demonstrates the university’s role in preparing future generations to address national and regional challenges while contributing to sustainable and inclusive development.

On this occasion, Ibn Tofail University warmly welcomes the first cohort of students of the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry and wishes them a successful and fulfilling university journey.
