On Monday, June 21, 2022, Ibn Tofail University had the honor of hosting Mr. Minister of Higher Education and Mr. Ambassador of Djibouti. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss bilateral cooperation and strengthen educational and cultural exchanges, as well as future prospects.
During the meeting, a range of potential areas for cooperation were explored, demonstrating the commitment of both parties to furthering their educational and academic engagement. These discussions encompassed various aspects of academia and collaboration, including scientific research initiatives, the facilitation of knowledge transfer through student and faculty exchanges, the establishment of dual-degree programs in partnership with engineering institutions, and the welcoming of Djiboutian students into master’s and doctoral programs at Ibn Tofail University.
UIT’s commitment to strengthening educational exchanges, facilitating student and faculty mobility, and supporting Djiboutian students’ enrollment in master’s and doctoral programs aligns with SDG 4’s objective of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all. Such collaborations are essential to enhance educational opportunities, particularly for students from countries of Africa, who are an important part of our student body.
By working together to strengthen educational and cultural ties, Djibouti and Ibn Tofail University exemplify the spirit of global cooperation, which are at the heart of SDG 17, needed to achieve progress and facilitate the exchange of best practices and resources to address the world’s most pressing challenges.
