UIT organized, through “MathICs” project, a training program on the use of ICTs in teaching mathematics. This training took place at Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra in collaboration with Mohammed V University in Rabat, the University of Almeria (Spain), Ecole Centrale de Nantes (France), and the Higher Technical Institute of Lisbon (Portugal). The program kicked off with two training sessions between October 3rd and 7th, 2022,: one focused on “Pedagogical Methods for Teaching Mathematics Using ICTs,” and the other on “Training for the utilization of specific software and educational materials.” The remaining program activities unfolded over the course of November.
UIT’s initiative through the “MathICs” project demonstrates its commitment to lifelong learning to the broader public by organizing a comprehensive training program on utilizing Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in teaching mathematics. This program, held in collaboration with various international institutions, aims to enhance pedagogical methods and equip educators with specific software and educational materials for effective mathematics instruction. By conducting this program, UIT promotes continuous professional development for educators, fosters the integration of technology in education, and encourages a dynamic and innovative approach to lifelong learning within the global academic community.
This not only provides a platform for educators to expand their skills and knowledge but also contributes to the overall improvement of education standards within the local and international community. The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. By facilitating a training program on the use of ICTs in teaching mathematics, the “MathICs” project contributes directly to the advancement of SDG 4. Specifically, it promotes the acquisition of relevant skills and competencies for educators, enhances the quality of education, and fosters inclusive learning environments that cater to diverse educational needs. Through this, UIT actively contributes to the global effort to achieve universal access to quality education.
