The Laboratory of Natural Resources and Sustainable Development at Ibn Tofail University’s Faculty of Sciences has taken proactive steps to commemorate World Water Day by hosting a series of compelling conferences themed around “Ecosystem Services and the Economic Value of Water.” Scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the Faculty’s Multipurpose Hall, this event assumed critical importance in addressing the global water and sanitation crisis. In a world where disruptions in the water cycle hinder progress across various sectors, the day emphasized the development of systematic water resource analysis tools, crucial for integrated water governance and sustainable water balance.
Constructive debates and recommendations concluded the day, dedicated to shedding light on crucial issues surrounding water resource management in Morocco. By focusing on the economic value and ecosystem services of water, the workshop contributes significantly to raising awareness and fostering solutions to the water crisis, essential for achieving global sustainability goals. Such initiatives show UIT’s commitment to advancing knowledge and practices that support environmental sustainability and equitable access to water resources, crucial for the well-being of communities locally and globally.
