In 2023, Ibn Tofaïl University implemented the Healthcare Workforce Expansion Program, launched under the 2022 framework agreement between the Ministries of Higher Education, Health, and Finance. This initiative supports Morocco’s goal of universalizing mandatory health insurance by 2025. The program aligns with His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s vision for the generalization of social protection.
With the introduction of two Bachelor’s degrees in Health Sciences, Ibn Tofaïl University contributes to expanding the healthcare workforce, training 1,167 students. The impact of this program extends far beyond education, as it directly addresses Morocco’s growing healthcare needs by creating a pipeline of qualified professionals. These trained individuals will strengthen the national healthcare system, ensuring access to quality healthcare for all citizens, particularly as Morocco moves towards universal health coverage. By 2030, the university’s role in this initiative will help bridge the gap in healthcare personnel and contribute to the overall improvement of health services across the country.
