Ibn Tofail University celebrated “World Forest and Water Days” over two days, March 21-22, 2023, with round tables and discussions between researchers and environmental advocates. The event aimed to highlight the challenges faced by those working to protect the “lungs of society” from pollution.
As part of this two-day scientific gathering, researchers from the university, in partnership with the Territory, Environment, and Development Laboratory, organized a symposium titled “Challenges of Natural Resource Sustainability.”
During their presentations, researchers addressed the obstacles to sustainable natural resource development and proposed solutions to combat pollution that threatens the environment. They also shed light on the water scarcity crisis affecting the Gharb Plain and surrounding areas, particularly during drought years. Innovative, research-driven solutions were proposed to help local populations overcome these challenges.
In conclusion, participants agreed on the need to support scientific research and stay up-to-date with recent developments, allocating resources to address water scarcity due to drought, and encouraged consideration of environmentally friendly agricultural alternatives.
