Ibn Tofail University Hosts African Week on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in Partnership with the NEF Einstein Forum

Ibn Tofail University, in collaboration with the National School of Chemistry and the Next Einstein Forum (NEF), has proudly hosted the African Week on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This groundbreaking event brought together thought leaders, researchers, students, and policymakers from across Africa to discuss and advance the United Nations’ SDG agenda.

A Platform for Sustainable Development in Africa

The African Week aimed to emphasize Africa’s leadership and innovation in addressing global challenges by focusing on localized solutions for sustainable development. UIT presented its model of free education, need-based services, entrepreneurship training, and employment-focused support, underlining the importance of collective action to build equitable learning environments.

During the African Week on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals held on 9 October 2024, Ibn Tofail University and the Next Einstein Forum jointly issued the “100% Renewable Energy.” This public pledge, endorsed by university leaders, researchers, policymakers, and civil society representatives, reaffirmed the collective commitment to transition toward 100% renewable energy across academic, industrial, and municipal sectors. It called for strengthened collaboration between universities and local authorities to accelerate solar, wind, and bioenergy adoption. It also invited other African institutions to join the pledge, positioning Ibn Tofail University as a regional advocate for a carbon-neutral and sustainable future.
