Ibn Tofail University Scouts for Elite Athletic Talent: 2025 Sports Selections Begin

Event : 19-24 November, 2025

Kenitra – November 2025 | Ibn Tofail University continues to champion the spirit of athletic excellence by launching its annual recruitment drive for the 2025 university sports season. The university has officially opened its doors to the campus’s best athletes to represent the institution in national and regional competitions.

The Philosophy: “Mens Sana in Corpore Sano”

The university’s commitment to these sports selections is rooted in the ancient Latin principle, “Mens Sana in Corpore Sano,” which translates to “A healthy mind in a healthy body.” This philosophy emphasizes that physical fitness is not merely a hobby, but a fundamental pillar of intellectual and mental well-being. By encouraging students to excel in basketball and volleyball, Ibn Tofail University promotes a holistic approach to education where the discipline of the court complements the rigor of the classroom. This balance ensures that students develop the resilience, focus, and vitality necessary to succeed both as scholars and as healthy, active citizens.

Men’s Varsity Selections: Kicking Off the Season

The search for excellence began with an open call to all male students on campus. On Wednesday, November 19, the University Sports Complex became the hub for basketball and volleyball enthusiasts. Under the supervision of professional coaches and technical staff, candidates underwent rigorous testing to assess their tactical skills, physical endurance, and team synergy. These selections aim to build a formidable men’s squad capable of maintaining Ibn Tofail University’s reputation for athletic prowess while fostering a culture of discipline and competitive excellence.

Empowering Female Athletes: The Path to Excellence

Dedicated to promoting gender equality in sports, the university has also issued a specific call to its top female talents. The selection process for the Women’s Basketball and Volleyball teams is scheduled for Monday, November 24, 2025, at 6:00 PM. This event is designed to provide female students with a high-level platform to showcase their athletic abilities. By establishing these elite teams, the university provides a structured environment where female students can excel, develop leadership skills, and contribute to the growing legacy of women’s university sports in Morocco.

Beyond athletic competition, these trials serve as a strategic vehicle for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically advancing SDG 3 through the promotion of student well-being, SDG 5 by ensuring gender equality in sports representation, SDG 4 by integrating soft-skill development into a “holistic education,” and SDG 10 by providing a merit-based, inclusive pathway for all students to succeed.
