The Faculty of Sciences of Kenitra, in collaboration with the Higher School of Technology in Laâyoune, organized the third edition of the Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Conference on November 9, 2024. The event took place in the city of Laâyoune, a city located in the southern part of Morocco, known for its rich cultural heritage and growing prominence as a hub for educational and technological advancements.

This conference gathered researchers, industry professionals, academics, and students from various regions to explore the intersection of big data and artificial intelligence (AI), two rapidly evolving fields that are shaping the future of technology and innovation worldwide. Over the course of the event, participants had the opportunity to engage with experts through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and technical sessions. The aim was to promote knowledge exchange, highlight the latest trends and breakthroughs in AI and data science, and encourage collaboration across various sectors, from academia to industry.
Another key aspect of the conference was the organization of training sessions and practical workshops, which provided participants with the opportunity to deepen their technical knowledge and familiarize themselves with the latest advancements in big data and artificial intelligence (AI). These workshops covered a range of concrete and relevant topics, including:
- The application of AI in industrial sectors: Participants explored real-world examples of AI implementation in key sectors such as healthcare, finance, agriculture, and transportation, analyzing the benefits and challenges associated with each industry.
- Big data analysis and management: Technical sessions were dedicated to the latest tools and technologies for processing, analyzing, and extracting valuable insights from large datasets, with a particular focus on the effectiveness of these methods in complex environments.
- Data ethics and security: A focus was placed on ethical issues and data security, discussing best practices to ensure data confidentiality and integrity while adhering to ethical standards governing the use of AI, in a context where the protection of personal and sensitive information is becoming increasingly critical.
The collaboration between the Faculty of Sciences of Kenitra and the Higher School of Technology in Laâyoune highlights the growing commitment of Moroccan academic institutions to advancing research and knowledge in cutting-edge fields like AI and big data. By bringing together experts from around the world, the event underscored the importance of these technologies in addressing global challenges and driving future growth.
The conference also aimed to foster closer ties between academic research and real-world applications of AI and big data, creating opportunities for students and young professionals to network with established leaders in the field. The event attracted participants from both local and international institutions, reinforcing Morocco’s role as an emerging player in the global technology landscape.
This edition of the conference was particularly significant as it marked the continuation of a series of annual events that have gained increasing attention over the years. It also set the stage for future editions, which are expected to further expand the conversation around AI and big data, and explore their potential to transform the global economy.
